BRINGING COURAGE AND COMFORT TO CHILDREN UPON DIAGNOSIS OF A BRAIN TUMOUR

What?

Every September, to celebrate Larsen's birthday, as well as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we make a super snuggly donation of Jellycat 'big-cats' to hospitals treating children for brain tumours. In 2022, we supplied three treatment centres with a year's supply of Jellycats. In 2023, we will double the number of centres we work with.

These are:

  • UCLH (London)
  • Nottingham University Hospitals Trust
  • Noah's Ark Children's Hospital (Cardiff)
  • University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
  • Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust

Why?

Treatment for brain tumours is intense, and there is no ‘child friendly’ option. Many of these children face long stays in hospital, risky brain surgery, toxic chemotherapy, as well as radiotherapy, physical therapy and more.

Whilst a soft toy cannot change their diagnosis or their treatment, we know that it can bring a sense of safety and security; a special friend at a very scary time.

Sponsor A Cuddle

How can I support the Big Cat campaign?

We would love for you to support our big cat campaign and there are lots of ways to get involved. Why not Sponsor a Cuddle in our shop; you pay for the big cat toy in our shop and we deliver directly to a child upon diagnosis. Or, if you are looking for something bigger, why not take part in our Easter Slideathon, or host a Big Cat Tea Party in September and #EatCakeforLarsen

How can I get a big cat for a child with a brain tumour?

We deliver the toys in bulk to treatment centres each September. We are always looking to expand the number of centres with which we work. If you would like to register your centre to receive some big cats next year, please use the Contact Us form to get in touch.
