Jellycat Big Cats

We want every child diagnosed with a brain tumour to have the comfort of a big cat.

One of our goals is to provide soft big cats to newly diagnosed children with brain tumours.

Since Larsen died, a wonderful group of his family and friends have made donations on his birthday each year to provide his favourite Jellycat ‘big cats’ to children on the neuro-oncology ward where he was treated.

The soft toys brought him so much comfort; they are incredibly soft and cuddly and of course, in the design of his favourite creatures. The donations we have made since then have brought the same comfort to almost 80 other children with brain tumours.  However, around 500 children are diagnosed with a brain tumour in England and Wales every single year and we want to provide for them all.

We are so proud of what we have done so far, but there are more children to reach. Treatment for brain tumours is intense, and there is no ‘child friendly’ version. Most of these children face long stays in hospital, terrifying brain surgery and toxic chemotherapy, just like Larsen did.

Whilst a soft toy cannot change their diagnosis or their treatment, we know that it can bring a sense of safety and security; a special friend at a very scary time.

We provide Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Jaguars, Cheetahs and any other type of big cat available, as we have seen first hand the comfort they bring. Where possible, we source Jellycat toys.

Of course, our favourite is Louie the Lion but we try and distribute a wide range of big cats to neuro-oncology wards across England and Wales. These big cats make a great (cuddly) companion and are a great reminder of the courage and bravery children affected by brain tumours show daily.

We aren't currently taking requests for cats from children and parents directly but please email us and we will try and meet any requests when possible. We can't always guarantee the type of big cat due to stock.
